More green and affordable homes for Bracknell Thursday, February 28, 2008 (335 reads)
Plans which should see a higher percentage of affordable housing have been submitted to Bracknell Forest Borough Council. The outline planning application by English Partnerships, and appointed developers Taylor Wimpey, relates to the former RAF College site, now known as The Parks.

| Survey shows homes becoming more energy efficient Thursday, February 28, 2008 (324 reads)
The 2006 English House Condition Survey Headline Report has been published on the Communites and Local Government website. The survey found that the energy efficiency of homes has improved from an average SAP rating of 42 in 1996 to 49 in 2006 - social sector homes are on average much more energy efficient than those in the private sector (57.4 compared to 46.8 respectively) and are improving at a faster rate.

An area of unused council land is set to become a development of 22 energy-efficient homes. The new development will be near Union Street, in Dursley, Gloucestershire, on an area of green open land, which planning and environmental consultants RPS Bristol believe will rejuvenate the area.

Plans for a "lean, clean and green" Wales, making it self-sufficient in renewable energy within 20 years, have been launched.
Environment Minister Jane Davidson said "sensitively but extensively exploited" use of wind, marine and biomass energy could make this happen.
